Repeat Prescriptions

If you require regular medication your doctor may arrange for you to be put on repeat prescribing. This will enable you to obtain your prescription without seeing a doctor each time your prescription is required.

All requests should be in writing and made in one of the following ways:

  • In person/post – forward your repeat slip to the surgery having clearly marked the items required.
  • By e-mail - to Prescription.s70997@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk
  • Online – follow the link at the top of this page to complete a simple registration.
  • By asking your local pharmacy to order repeat medication on your behalf

Please note we do not accept telephone requests for prescriptions.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

FROM 1st AUGUST 2023 WE ARE AMENDING OUR PRESCRIPTION PROCESSING  SERVICE DUE TO THE DEMAND ON OUR RESOURCES.

Repeat prescriptions take 3 full working days to process before they are ready for collection at the surgery.

Remember  weekends and bank holidays do not count as working days.  Please do not ask for the prescriptions before this time frame

If you wish your prescription to go to a pharmacy directly please allow at least 7 full working days before collection

Please note that requests for items not listed on your repeat request slip may take longer to process.
